An -ism is defined as a distinctive practice, system, or philosophy. Admissionisms, a full-service educational consulting company specializing in college and graduate school admissions, strives to bring the following core principles front and center as part of our guiding mission:
A3
Admissionisms clients are defined by 3 central characteristics:
- Academics
- Ambition
- Application
Our clients share something in common: They are aspirational, motivated, high achievers who are committed to pursuing college and graduate education. Not necessarily “Perfect Students,” they share the belief of putting forth your best self to achieve big, huge, audacious career goals. Even if unsure of “what I want to be when I grow up,” they are committed to asking the important self-discovery questions and systematically exploring their options.
Best Fit
Admissionisms zeroes in on academic strengths, social and cultural preferences, learning styles, and career goals, in order to focus squarely on “best fit” rather than blind allegiance to college rankings. We believe that “best colleges” are not determined by a published list, and instead, adopt a holistic approach of placing applicant needs first and matching to colleges where they can thrive – personally and professionally.
Expertise
Admissionisms strives to empower with up-to-date admissions knowledge and provide step-by-step guidance through the college and graduate school application journey. This is accomplished through advanced educational training and on-going professional development to remain on the cutting edge of admissions trends and best practices. Regular campus visits inform a “beyond the brochure” view of colleges to assist in finding best matches for academic and career goals.
Professionalism and Partnership
Highly valuable partnerships are created with applicants. We firmly believe in open communication and student ownership in the application journey. High school students attend regular consultation sessions and parents receive progress updates at each step of the process. Graduate school applicants are held to a slightly higher standard of accountability than first-time-in-college seekers (no parents allowed!). We work together as a team, with the consultant serving as a sounding board and delivering guided direction, feedback, and support.
A select number of private clients are taken on at a time for in-depth understanding of personal and professional needs, detailed research and feedback, and a high degree of responsiveness via email, phone, or virtual session. The importance of maintaining strict ethical standards cannot be overstated. Any consultant worth their salt will be transparent in their aims and upfront about their role and responsibilities. As an independent advisor, we work with clients, and not for any particular college or program, issuing information squarely in the best interests of the applicant.
Here are the professional guidelines we adhere to:
- Strict compliance with ethical guidelines
- No affiliations with any particular college, university, or program
- No admission guarantees, referrals, or placements
- Issued recommendations based on judgment and best interest of clients
- Maintain client privacy and confidentiality
- Respect for persons of diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, national origin, language, religion, disability, etc.
