Ahem. Guess who’s back?
Things have been quiet around here for awhile. I took a hiatus – a pretty long one. As life would happen, I’ve been making major moves and transitions off-line. I started working as a college professor. I jumped feet-first into a whirlwind of course development, lecture preparation, paper grading, office hours, and committee work. Summers were optional, they said. My student loans disagree!
As the new kid on the block, er, department, I made myself indispensable. I workshopped and conferenced my way to professional development glory. I went above and beyond to earn the coveted award of tenure at the college, earn tenure I did, along with the benefit of added job security.
I’ve taught dozens of courses and literally thousands of students to date. I’ve gained experience in in teaching both traditional and online classes. I’ve earned glowing teaching reviews. In my spare time, Inner Evil Kermit propelled to me binge-watch entire Netflix series, but I shut him up when he intimated that I needn’t come back.
I’m sorry to inform Inner Evil Kermit, but I have even more to offer admissions seekers today. I’ve taught thousands of students. I’ve seen several of them transfer to university, even move on to grad school, and prosper. I’ve leveled up in my career, and today bring even more insight to Admissionisms as a full-scale college admissions consulting firm.
Independent Educational Consultant-In-Training
Admissionisms was born as my first brainchild, Your Grad School Coach, with the goal of offering grad and professional school seekers straight-up advice to earn acceptance letters. As I’ve delved deeper into my career, I’ve noticed it’s also associates degree earners transferring to universities, and high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors that get caught in the fray of “I don’t know what to do” in identifying majors, choosing which college is best for them, and otherwise running through the logistics of applying to college.
Offline, I advise students I come in contact with, but it really occurred to me that I could magnify my efforts by bringing this work online. Not only that, but making sure I had the latest and most up-to-date knowledge of the admissions landscape. Let me tell you that you don’t just happen upon this knowledge when teaching college courses.
Earlier this year, I elected to return to school (yes, you read that right) and pursue professional certification as an independent educational consultant with a specialization in college admissions. I’m knee deep in readings and homework assignments with the ultimate goal of giving better advice and guidance to applicants seeking admission to the “best match” program to fit their personal set of likes, preferences, and career goals.
I’m working diligently behind the scenes to retool this website and services offered (coming soon). I have so much in store for the future and cannot wait to share it with you!
I have availability to see clients on a limited basis until the grand relaunch later this year. If you’d like to inquire about services, or reach out with a question, you can do so on my brand-new contact page.
